B- What are the differences of this type and traditional methods?
In terms of Design/Drawings for Permit, they are very similar. The home inspector come over to inspect the home under construction. The container has to undergo inspection as well. But this is for the US regulation and might be unnecessary in other countries.
The steel is too expensive construction method. The concrete takes long time with labor costs. The stick framed is relatively cheap but weak before hurricanes and earthquake.
Below you can see the features of the container how it is strong, quick deployed, cost-effective, much better solution for residential and commercial use.
C – What are the advantages of this construction method? And why should we choose that?
This is a new construction method emerging these days which suits low income accommodation to high end home owners looking for modern, contemporary building. The advantages can be listed as below:
1- Cost-effective, it’s an affordable solution. The solidly built structure is already produced and saves you and the client the heavy structure costs. The durability of the structure provides a significant savings to the customer because minimal repairs and replacement are needed.
2- Strength, they are built extremely strong to remain weather-tight, waterproof, high speed wind resistant, and up to 9 level stackable during shipment. It withstands hurricane and tornado up to 175mph. It’s much stronger than building codes require.
3- Time, it’s production time is one third the estimated time for conventional houses, stick framed or concrete homes. No need to heavy foundation construction. Quickly deployed. It’s usually built offsite parallel to the on-site construction.
4- Design, it can easily be modified into any design meeting home owner’s specification. It can be multi-attached, stacked above each other, stacked with cantilever, walls cut out, and exterior cladding, and create sleek look.
5- Unique, they stand out from every other building, helps to promote the brand and generate customers.
6- Green, it’s built offsite and transported to the site with minimum construction materials; it’s a great green idea. Each 1280sf space we build diverts 22 tons of waste from our local landfills reducing waste and minimizing the impact on natural resources.
7- Building code, our standard insulation exceeds R-values by more than 2X TX state requirements. 24% higher energy efficiency than Energy code requires.

The following tells you about the advantages of container pop up shop/café/restaurant etc.:
D – What are the cost for very basic models?
The prices should be discussed based on each client’s request. Most of the inquiries are too customized and as such, the costs are very variable depending on the materials, time of order and the regulations in the destination location etc. And we do have done many designs.
But we can adjust ourselves within the budget of each client and help you out for sure. We have done low income projects and high end projects and know how to adjust ourselves within the budget of the client and suggest different option under the course of work to assist the client. Let’s know their budget and we walk with that.
E- What are the sizes?
We do have Standard 20ft and 40ft containers which are 9 ½’ high and 8’ wide. We can make them multi attached, multi stacked, and provide various of designs as per specifications. We usually get request for 20ft pop up shop, clinics, café/Bar to multi attached homes and offices. The 20ft provides 160sf equal to 15sqm
The 40ft provides 320sf equal to 30sqm
The we have done project providing two story Café 640sf
We have done container homes in 640sf, 1280sf, 2000sf, 2800sf and 3200sf. Two stories or Cantilevered etc.
Every Design is possible.
What are the prices?
The cost is actually provided after receiving design/drawings with specifications. As we are mainly experienced in the US, we’re be able to price for overseas market only after finding out the specific requirements of the client. As most of the designs has been too customized, the price is related to that specific client based on the client’s material choice and quality request.
However, otherwise, we only can provide a rough budgetary range based on our experience in those countries and those projects we’ve been engaged with.
F – How about the insulation as they are metal structures?
Without a doubt insulating your containers is one of the most important aspects of the build.
If you don’t insulate, or get the insulation wrong, then your container home is going to be pretty unbearable- it will be freezing cold during the winter and too hot during the summer.
But there is solution for that and many options available. Please have a look at the link below to better understanding: http://s3da-design.com/shipping-container-home-insulation/

G – What is the process for buying a container home/ pop up shop?
The best place to start is to get financing if you need it and that way you will know what you qualify for. If you don’t need financing, then that’s a plus. Next is to find land that will allow the home that you want to put on there. Some cities/counties have zoning and code restrictions and requirements. An experienced Realtor should be able to find land that will accommodate your needs and the Custom Container Living floor plan that you want to put on it.
Next step is to pick a floor plan and pricing that fits you best. We can tweak and create floor plan as you desire. After that we would put a contract in place for you to review. The rest will be our responsibility.
As per experience, the clients hire a local contractor who knows the codes, the sources, the city much better and can handle the permit, the site/civil work based on experience. That would save the client money and time.
We do design, production, delivery, installation.
Our Architectural and engineers work on the preferred design and provide consultation to get the most feasible design close to client’s specs.
After the permit is granted, we start the production in our facility off site. This a good advantage of Container home, that the contractor can start the onsite work concurrently.
Once the production is accomplished, our team will ship the containers to the destination and assist in installation. 90% of the construction is done off site and only minor final touch would be left.
