You should know that every commercial building should have an effective plumbing system. It helps manage the entire building from bringing in clean water and dumping out wastewater from toilets and sinks. Even with its many benefits, other commercial building owners would ignore the importance of plumbing systems.

You should know how vital a plumbing system is and learn the different systems. Learning about them can help you figure out which plumbing system is best for your commercial building. When you have the best plumbing system, you should have no problems providing your tenants a properly functioning building. You can find at least three types of plumbing systems.

Portable Water System

A commercial building should have clean running water. Usually, people would use it to wash their hands, plates and flush the toilet. It is a separate system from the other ones, and it should also be kept clean at all times. Plumbing technicians should also maintain it from time to time to ensure nothing goes inside the water pipes. You can also provide floor access doors for plumbing technicians to access the water system easily.

You can find a valve on the water main for every building if a severe water issue occurs. The water main is responsible for distributing water to different areas within the building. and they pass through individual fixtures through an extensive piping network. It also has a meter for plumbers and technicians to track how much water gets fed into the building.

Sanitary Drainage System

Another plumbing system that every commercial building needs are the sanitary drainage system. Like the portable water system, the sanitary drainage system also has pipes that remove fecal matter and human waste. It is one of the most critical components of the entire plumbing system because it keeps the commercial building clean.

You can find that the sanitary drainage system has pipes that go up to the roof vertically to vent gases.  This ensures the entire system functions at atmospheric pressure. Once a person excretes wastewater or matter, they ultimately go to the community sewer system and then go to a wastewater treatment facility.

Stormwater Drainage System

Lastly, you have the plumbing system that’s responsible for carrying out rainwater away from commercial buildings. When the rain is pouring down hard, certain areas on the building’s exterior will get filled with water. Leaving water stagnant for a long time on a single building area can create moss, which is not suitable for the building material.

Usually, an old drainage system will bring the rainwater directly to the community sewer system. However, modern drainage systems carry rainwater into the community storm sewers separate from the sewer system. You should know that gutters are part of the stormwater drainage system, which you can find outside of the commercial building.

Ensure that your commercial building has all three plumbing systems if you want a functional building. It would be best to talk with your contractors during the building phase to learn the most efficient plumbing system you can find.
