Engineering design for Hotel Remodeling, Reno, NV
S3DA Design is providing electrical engineering services for the remodeling of an existing 3-story hotel in Reno, Nevada. The project includes upgrades to support 15 remodeled rooms with new bathrooms, sinks, appliances, and floor AC units.
S3DA’s Scope
- Electrical load calculations for existing and new loads
- Evaluation of 400A vs. 600A Main Distribution Panel capacity
- Design of new 200A panels for each of the three floors
- Design of new floor subpanels and branch circuits
- Power distribution for appliances, HVAC/floor AC units, and miscellaneous equipment
- New outlet rough-ins
- Exit signs, interior lighting, façade lighting, and lighting controls
- Low-voltage rough-in coordination per owner direction
- Coordination of 3-phase electrical service requirements
Key Challenges & Solutions
The main challenge is integrating new electrical capacity into an operating hotel while verifying that each floor’s 200A panel can support both existing and new wiring. S3DA’s electrical team will perform detailed load calculations to determine whether the preferred 400A Main Distribution Panel is sufficient or if a 600A upgrade is required.
The Result
The project will deliver a coordinated, permit-ready electrical design that supports hotel room modernization, improved guest comfort, and future-ready power distribution. S3DA’s nationwide MEP experience supports efficient design delivery for hospitality projects across the U.S.
