MEP Design for Hair and Beauty Salon Tenant Improvement in Marietta, Georgia

S3DA Design is providing complete Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) engineering services for an approximately 1,196 SF hair and beauty salon tenant improvement in Marietta, Georgia. The project involves coordinating new and existing building systems to support the salon layout while providing a practical, permit-ready MEP design.

S3DA’s Scope

Electrical Engineering

  • Evaluate and utilize the existing electrical service where applicable, or provide requirements for new incoming electrical service.
  • Design the complete power distribution system, including distribution, sub-distribution, and branch circuit panelboards.
  • Design interior lighting, exit signage, façade lighting, and associated controls.
  • Provide receptacle and outlet rough-in layouts.
  • Coordinate electrical power requirements for HVAC and miscellaneous equipment.
  • Provide low-voltage rough-in provisions based on the owner’s requirements.

Mechanical / HVAC Engineering

  • Document the existing HVAC system and address applicable project comments.
  • Maintain the existing restroom exhaust system.
  • Prepare the mechanical equipment schedule.
  • Develop the HVAC air distribution plan for the tenant space.

Plumbing Engineering

  • Design domestic water, water heating, sanitary, and vent systems based on the new salon layout.
  • Provide condensate collection requirements for mechanical equipment.
  • Select the water heater and prepare the associated schedule.
  • Prepare plumbing isometric drawings.
  • Develop plumbing equipment schedules and applicable details.

Key Challenges & Solutions

Salon tenant improvements require careful coordination of electrical loads, HVAC distribution, plumbing fixtures, and existing building infrastructure within a relatively compact space. S3DA’s coordinated MEP approach helps organize these systems efficiently while minimizing conflicts between disciplines and supporting the architectural layout.

By evaluating existing systems for potential reuse and designing new infrastructure only where required, the engineering approach also supports cost-conscious construction and efficient project execution.

The Result

The completed MEP package will provide coordinated electrical, HVAC, and plumbing documentation for the approximately 1,196 SF salon tenant improvement, supporting permitting and construction while providing the owner and contractor with a clear, integrated engineering solution.
